The Chevrolet Corvette is one of the pinnacles of the American automobile. Within the seven generations of the Corvette, there was a particular style apart from the others in the family, the Corvette Stingray. The stingray was designed and first concept model released in 1957, and it was different from other Corvettes merely based off racing models from the European automotive industries; the Corvette Stingray was designed to be a race car through and through. The first Corvette Stingray on the market was the setting of the C2 second generation Corvette in 1963, with the design for the consumer sports car continuing until the end of the C3 third generation, and the end of the Corvette Stingray until recently reintroduced in the C7 generation released in 2014. The Corvette Stingray was a favorite of American cool guys, and the ’66 model in particular was the favorite domestic sports car of the king of cool himself, Steve McQueen.
